12 Indicted in Scheme of Faking Accidents

Twelve people have been charged with being part of a ring that staged phony auto accidents, bribed hospital employees for patient information and filed fraudulent insurance claims and lawsuits, prosecutors said yesterday. Those accused of being members of the group, the ALCAL Management Team, were charged in an 80-count indictment with enterprise corruption, larceny, bribery and insurance fraud. The top count, enterprise corruption, is punishable by up to 25 years in prison.
